Navigating Change in Uncertain Times

Change is difficult for a lot of folks, especially in uncertain times. And these times, my friends, are definitely uncertain. We are doing our best to go with the flow during the COVID-19 pandemic and wanted to share 10 practical tips for navigating change in uncertain times.

  1. Breathe. Breathing with your whole body is so important. Take a deep breath from the bottom of your belly and allow it to fill your body all the way to the top of your chest. Then blow it all out, allowing your jaw to drop open. Do this periodically to help relieve stress, to re-focus and feel refreshed.
  2. Meditate. Establish a daily meditation, grounding & centering and/or prayer process to help drown out the noise and keep you grounded.
  3. Get outside. Fresh air is good for the body, mind and spirit. Take a walk, go for a hike, walk the beach. Just get moving outside in some way every day. And maintain social distancing.
  4. Express your gratitude. Think about all the things you have to be grateful for and express them in a written journal, via social media, phone, email, written letters…whatever way you choose. Thank your family, friends, colleagues, and people in your community.
  5. Stay informed. Read, watch and listen to balanced news sources. Pay attention to the facts, not theories or opinions or arguments one way or another.
  6. Unplug. From time to time, it’s also important to unplug and eliminate the noise altogether. With everyone being at home, and glued to their various screens, we all need a break.
  7. Keep the lines of communication open. Stay connected to family, friends and colleagues. Ask questions. Ask for support when you need it. Check in with the people around you and make sure they’re ok. Especially your strong friends. Sometimes they carry the weight of the world on their shoulders and they need a little extra love.
  8. Stay positive. Challenges are temporary. You’ve survived 100% of your toughest days so far. Just keep going.
  9. Go with the flow. Focus on the things you CAN control and let go of the things you can’t.
  10. Seek inspiration. It’s all around you. One of our favorite sources of inspiration is Rumi. Just Google Rumi quotes and images and you can’t help but be inspired.

Be well, friends. We will all be together in-person again soon.
