If we could summarize this wedding in one word it would be “flexibility.” It’s safe to say that Mother Nature was not on our side on this early March Saturday, but we didn’t let her stop us from having a beautiful wedding!
Our whole team of vendors went the extra mile to ensure that Katelin & Douglas still had the day of their dreams, even if that meant braving the harsh wind and rain. We all adapted in every way we knew how, whether that be incorporating clear umbrellas into bride & groom portraits, transforming the barn ceremony site into our indoor reception hall, or moving the Typsy Gypsy Bar trailer as close to the barn doors as possible.
Weather report aside, this wedding was an absolute blast and a perfect way to kick off our 2019 season. The flowers, lanterns, and bistro lighting completely transformed the Santa Margarita Ranch barn into a fairytale. Our groom, sweetheart that he is, said “I Do” a total of 5 times during the ceremony, only one of which he was prompted to do.
The reception had a funny surprise in store for us, too, involving the Best Man’s speech. He opened his toast by announcing that “it was time for all the women with keys to your apartment to hand them over,” and about 15 women came up and dropped a key into his outstretched bucket, including Amanda & I! (He had secretly distributed these keys to the guests during cocktail hour). This got everyone laughing, and was definitely the funniest moment of the whole day.
And we can’t possibly mention the reception without singing the praises of the live band, Soulville! They were fantastic, and we mean FANTASTIC. They were excellent to work with, kept the crowd on the dance floor for hours on end, and were so unbelievably talented. We’re so excited to see what the rest of 2019 holds for us!
P.S. We want to give an extra shout out to Chef’s Table Catering for performing almost their entire operation in the rain (God bless pop-up tents) and still managing to serve hot, delicious food to every single guest! This is truly a team that goes above and beyond!
