Calling all newly engaged couples! First of all congratulations! This is such an exciting time in your lives and we could not be happier for the both of you! But as wedding planners we also know how overwhelming it can be as there are so many decisions to be made before the big day arrives. Therefore we thought we would share a few trends we have been seeing and loving to get you inspired when it comes time to make those hard choices!
1) Mismatched Bridesmaids Dresses: This takes the different style dress but same color trend to a whole new level! We know the name can be a little off-putting, but hear us out. The dresses are not completely “mismatched” as they fit within the specific color scheme of your wedding. It also allows the bridesmaids to show a bit of their personality and style, as well as display your color scheme in a unique way! This trend works particularly well with large wedding parties.
2) Pet Inspired Signature Cocktails: Incorporating your pets into your nuptials physically does not always work out logistically. However, your pets can still be a part of your wedding weekend by naming your signature cocktails after them and providing custom illustrations of your favorite furry friends!
3) Interactive Games During Cocktail Hour: While you and your significant other are being whisked away for photos after the ceremony, guests are invited to another area for cocktail hour. To keep guests entertained, we have seen couples include more interactive games so the hour does not seem so long. This can be as simple as setting out a game of corn hole or even going more personal with a giant crossword puzzle filled with facts about you as a couple!
4) Alternative Guest Books: We still love a traditional guest book, but we also love to see when a couple switches it up in favor of something that is more in-tune to who they are as a couple. We have seen alternative guest books such as an audio guest book, a wine barrel top guest book, and wine bottle guest books just to name a few!
5) Cowgirl Accessories: Yee-haw! Something we have seen become more of a trend is having the bride either walk down the aisle in cowgirl boots, switch into them for some fun flare during dancing, or just throw on a cowgirl hat during the reception! It is such a fun touch for those ranch weddings. Plus the cowgirl boots can be way more comfortable to wear for long periods of time than high heels!
6) Personalized Jean Jackets: Yes we know personalized jean jackets are a trend that has been around for some time, but we can’t help but love them! Not only are they absolutely adorable, but as the night approaches it is a nice way to keep warm, especially for those receptions that take place outside!
7) Seating Charts Doubling as Favors: Sometimes we see guests leave behind wedding favors that have been set out on their tables. Why not combine your seating chart with your wedding favors?!? We think it’s a cute way to show guests where they are sitting, while also giving them a personalized gift that will remind them of the amazing time they had at your wedding!
8) Venue Art as part of your Invitation Suite: More recently, we have been seeing our clients’ adding subtle nods to their venue location in their invitation suite. And more and more we have seen them commission small paintings of a part of the venue to add to either their invitations or the envelope itself! We think this is such a cute and creative touch, as well as giving their guests a landmark to look for when heading to the venue on the day of the wedding!
